@LivebetterinNorthIdaho, I grew up in NE Washington and North Idaho, Bonners Ferry. My parents had a cabin in Bonners Ferry for 7-8 years. I want to move back to Idaho from a large west coast city and I still have family in North Idaho.The move won't happen for a few years. If I buy a place in Bonners Ferry as. second home. Do you believe that I can buy a gun at a gun store legally? Also from your description, it seems the State of Idaho doesn't have a "strawman" law/issue?

I'm not an attorney but I think you are wrong about the recent Idaho law that defines the conditions under which the prohibition of arms on public land may be imposed on people in Idaho. The law does far more than guarantee the rights of real property owners to impose prohibitions on private land. Rather, it validates and supports the option of gun prohibitions on public land that is used by private commercial entities, eg., the commercial operation of a state fair. If an admission fee is charged to the public, a state fair or other event under private management or lease may now lawfully prohibit attendees and associates from carrying guns within the event. I believe the Idaho legislation went in the wrong direction with this law. The Idaho legislature has now guaranteed Idahoans the same carry problems that gun owners are experiencing in most other states, including Texans at the Texas State Fair! I believe the rights of the public must always be upheld on public land, regardless of how the government allocates "our" public land resources. By the way, I am a resident of north central Idaho who spent two years in a truck camper with my family looking for a new home throughout the entire state of Idaho nearly a decade ago, I think your opinion of "especially north Idaho" is overstated. Of course the entire Treasure Valley in south central Idaho is best avoided by people seeking liberty and freedom but, outside of the Treasure Valley, north Idaho is nothing special in comparison to the rest of the state when it comes to liberty. Of course that's just my opinion and north Idaho was a very strong possibility in my family's decision-making. Nonetheless and very sadly, I also agree with Patricia Gidding's opinion that "Idaho is not as conservative as we think it is!"

What they need to do is create a law that states that if a private entity forbids a legally carrying patron from exercising their 2nd Amendment rights on their property, then that private entity now assumes responsibility for the safety of that patron. Think Walmart: If Walmart states that they don't want firearms on their property, and a patron leaves their weapon secured in their vehicle, then suffers felonious violence or death because they were unable to defend themselves, Walmart is now liable for the injuries or death. That will make private companies think about that restriction a lot more.

Here is my personal opinion based on the Constitution. ALL citizens have the right to possess and bear arms. That means felons as well. The second amendment to the Constitution CLEARLY states, "The right of the people to possess and bear arms SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED". ANY law, be it, background checks, being a felon, licenses, CCW's, permits, registrations, limiting magazine capacity are ALL infringement. Look up the definition of "infringement". It is BLATANTLY clear. Back in the old west days, when you were released from PRISON, you were given a $20 gold piece and a riffle. They had sense back then. You paid your debt to society, so it was over and you still maintained your rights. I feel very comfortable when I see people strapped with a sidearm in public. I walk up to those people and strike a conversation. They are MY kinda folk. I have my sidearm on all day, even in my own home, when I walk outside, when I go hang out with the neighbors and more. I encourage more people to strap. ANY and ALL laws that go against the Constitution, the SUPREME LAW OF THE LAND, are UNCONSTITUTIONAL and thereby ILLEGAL and UNENFORCEABLE. The Constitution "GIVES" nobody ANY rights. The Constitution PREVENTS the government from RESTRICTING OR REMOVING your God given rights. A "privilege" may be revoked, but a "RIGHT" CAN NOT BE REMOVED, PERIOD. ANY "gun laws", by default to the Constitution, are ILLEGAL PERIOD.

Unfortunately, I live in the people's socialist state of Washington. The leftists in Olympia have been been unconstitutionaly chipping away at our gun rights for year . Getting ready to make a move somewhere, i. The next year or two . Either that , or keep my place here but but so.e property in Idaho, Montana, or Wyoming. Even been looking at rural areas all over the south as well

Alberta used to have a great gun culture too. It is diminished, unfortunately, but still there in the rural communities. I have the intention to retire in Idaho, or perhaps Montana. Close to home and very similar in terrain. And free. Freedom cannot be taken for granted.

Excellent job! Thank you for presenting an overview of our outstanding gun laws…and I mean outstanding! Hopefully those individuals moving here respect our precious rights and positively partake in our culture. We don’t know how good we have it compared to many other states in our great country. I couldn’t be happier with the decision my Wife and I made to move our Family to the great state of Idaho from NJ, over 28 years ago!! You only realize what a beautiful state we have when you leave, then return. It’s like coming back to paradise!

In March of 2020 we contacted Black Rifle Real estate. After a brief interview over the phone we were told that were going to get properties and I was never sent any at all even after a 2nd contact. The waiting period went and left as properties started ramping up and lost that opportunity. I have lived though communism and I know the fight we have ahead of us.

I should not have to move to another state and freeze my (**censored**) off in order to be free.
